A friend of Old Penarthians, Neil Edwards from Narberth, was recently clearing out his rugby memorabilia and came across an edition of "Rugger Sport" published in December 1964. The magazine, which was 'Wales Own Rugby Journal', features an article about Old Penarthians RFC, highlighting our early history, the opening of the new clubhouse and the establishment of the Sevens.
Many of the names in the article may only be known to those who are the wrong side of fifty but the story of the club's development is worth remembering as we near the celebrations of our 100th year of our existence. The picture of the 'new clubhouse' also shows how far we have developed our facilities since that time.
It is also good to know that in 1964 a 'comparatively young club' was receiving coverage in a Wales Rugby publication.
