Old Penarthians Under 6s & Girls Team gain new sponsors.
Old Penarthians are pleased to announce three new sponsors of our Minis & Juniors sections.
Local Penarth company AGD Amusements have recently become a sponsor of our Under 6s kit. They are joined by B-Line Taxis and Cardiff Sports Orthopaedics who have jointly sponsored our Girls team.
The Old Penarthians have been running an Under 6s development squad for five seasons.
Allowing children from the age of four years old (Reception at school) to participate in rugby "games", developing their ability to catch and pass a rugby ball and above all else, have fun with their friends in a safe, rugby club environment.
Some of the earliest members of the Under 6s have gone on to represent the Vale and it has also benefited the club which runs a very successful Minis & Juniors section with over 230 children enjoying rugby.
Under 6s Head Coach, Sue Barter said "The sponsorship allows the Under 6s to have their own kit but more importantly, feel part of the club. The pride on their faces when they received their kits was mirrored by that of their parents - they were all smiling from ear to ear!"
Our Old Penarthians Girls team was started last season by Coach Danielle Lane and has gone from strength to strength. "The kit looks amazing, adding a nice twist on the traditional Old Penarthian Royal and Gold for the girls." Whilst many girls still compete against their male counterparts well into the early stages of contact rugby, not all the girls want to and many were walking away from the sport when this happened at Under 9s. Danielle started this team to try and keep the girls involved and the results speak for themselves.
Girls Team member Niamh, said "it made us all feel special in the same kit, more like a team ."
Old Penarthians RFC Chairman Jonathan Vaughan said "These not so Old Penarthians are the future of our club. Hopefully in years to come many of these players will go on to represent our Youth and Senior teams." He added "To see so many children enjoying themselves and their rugby on a Sunday, as well as the number of parents now involved is key to the one club ethos on which we pride ourselves. Senior players have become more involved in coaching the children and likewise, the children are frequent attendees at Senior games”.
Thank you and welcome to our sponsors.
