Changing Room Refurbishment

The Club is pleased to report that the changing rooms and shower area are now back in operation after an eleven week refurbishment programme.  All the sections of the Club have now had use of the area and first impressions from all members and visitors are that the works have been carried out to a high standard and provide another fantastic facility for the Old Penarthians.

The refurbishment of the area included

  • the creation of one large new changing area by the demolition of a wall between two of the existing smaller changing rooms
  • the provision of non-slip tiling throughout the area
  • new wall boards to all the rooms and showers
  • new heating
  • new bench seating
  • new shower pipework
  • replacement shower cubicles in the referees’ changing area
  • upgrading the mens’ toilet area
  • the conversion of a small shower area into a ladies’ toilet
  • construction of new storage cupboards in the corridors

The new facility provides a modern changing environment for all sportsmen and sportswomen and with the provision of strategically placed lockable doors, it will allow the newly formed ladies rugby teams a secure and safe area to help them enjoy their sport.

The Club wishes to thank W Hill Construction, and Scott Hill in particular, for their cooperation during the construction period and for their professional approach to the work.

As members you are invited to look around the facilities whenever the chance arises and hopefully you will consider the latest refurbishment to be a valued addition to the modernisation of the Club.

Finally, members are reminded that the changing rooms and shower area are OUR facilities and that they should be respected at all times.  Please keep the areas in a condition that will ensure that they can be cleaned and maintained with the minimum of effort, and in so doing provide a legacy for the anyone who uses the facilities.
