It is with much sadness that Old Penarthains advise that Phil Marks passed away earlier this week after a long and courageous fight against illness. Phil represented the senior teams of the club in the late 1980s, early 1990s and captained the 3rd XV in the 1995/96 season. His preferred position was outside half but he was capable of performing well anywhere in the threequarters.
After retirement he was still engaged with the club particularly on Sevens Day when he was always available as a steward for the hospitality marquee. Latterly he has become a keen golfer where he became reacquainted with many of his former rugby playing colleagues who had also taken up a less strenuous sporting career.
Everyone at Old Penarthians offer condolences to his partner Jules, son Ben and granddaughter Amelia, and to all his many close friends at this very sad time.
