OLD PENARTHIANS WEBSITE RE-LAUNCH

After eight long months Old Penarthians are pleased to announce that their website has now been reestablished in collaboration with Deeper Marketing

Before highlighting our new website, it is worth explaining that the absence of our website from your search engines was entirely the fault of the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) and nothing to do with the website administration by your volunteer Club contributors.

On 14th December 2024 the WRU advised clubs that the support that they had provided to all member rugby club websites, through a third party, was to be withdrawn on 31st December 2024. The WRU did not have a contingency plan in place and therefore on the due date all WRU hosted rugby club websites in Wales went off-line. In the intervening period the WRU have indicated, without success, that they were going to reinstate our website and retrieve all historic information that we had built up over many years. Their efforts have failed and much of the detail that existed has been lost.

In late June 2025 your committee determined that in these days where social media, in all formats, is a much needed forum for information and communication that we would create our own new website to be hosted by Deeper Marketing, which is managed by a club member, Alex Wigford-Morgan. Since that time conversations with the WRU have continued and they have been able to provide us with a limited amount of historic information but ultimately the Club decided that with the uncertainty around the WRU timescales for reinstatement of a ‘live’ working platform we would ‘go-it-alone’ with an aim for us to go live before the start of the 2025/26 rugby season. Which brings us to today and the launch of our new look website.

The website has been created to ensure that it operates across all devices with specific mobile phone accessibility as the Club recognises that most users will be entering the site through their mobile phones. The format is however fully functional on all other devices and includes links to our other social media outlets The information currently on the site may be limited but over the next few months and
years it will be populated with information and news that we hope you will find interesting.

Please use the website and see what you think about the layout. Your comments would be appreciated, be they positive or with suggestions of how the site may be improved further. Either reply to oldpensrfc@live.co.uk or contact Tony Crimp on crimp55@btinternet.com
