Why become a member of the JSC 1923 at The Old Penarthians RFC.

Whether you are a former player, family of a junior or senior player or simply an enthusiastic follower we urge you to become a member of the Jock Strap Club 1923 at OPRFC and better still, get someone to sign up with you. 

The mix of ages, often several generations from one family, to play, watch and socialise around rugby is one of the elements that makes the sport great and for this to continue we need to spread the membership net as widely as possible. The Jock Strappers are vital to the continued success of Old Penarthians RFC for several reasons.

Firstly, we believe OPRFC is a great organisation and in becoming a Jock Strapper, you will help maintain the history of the club and enable the club’s success for future generations.

Secondly, despite being an amateur club running costs rise year on year, and whilst every penny of profit goes back into the running of the club, greater financial resources go towards the fabric and structure of the club and the upkeep and maintenance of the playing facilities. JSC 1923 funds make up a significant contribution, but more Jock Strap members will help further.

Apart from knowing that you are helping the club that has, and possibly still is, giving enjoyment to you and those close to you, there are other benefits to you as a person.

The intention of the JSC 1923 is to organise several events over the calendar year, this will include food and some free drinks, provided for all JSC 1923 members, for at least two home league games (Game selection TBC). Also, a Summer Hog Roast and entertainment that will include an invite for you plus a guest.

T&Cs

1. Open to any member of OPRFC.
2. Must be 18 or over.
3. Annual payment is £15 per month by DD for 11 months with 1 free month or £150 for the year. Payment to be made into a designated OPRFC account details of which will be made available as from the 1st of August every year.
4. 40% of all membership monies raised to be used for benefit of JSC 1923 club members and the balance to be donated to OPRFC for agreed projects. 
5. Membership will be capped at 100.
6. The membership year will run from August 1 until July 31 of the following year.
7. The club will be managed by five officers who will be in position for one year.
8. Officers can be re-nominated for a maximum of three years.
9. Anyone wishing to be a managing officer needs to be proposed and seconded in writing by a fully paid-up member of JSC 1923, and if there are more than five nominations declared by July 1, then a postal vote will take place before July 22 to identify those nominees with the five highest votes. Nominations to be submitted to OPRFC rugby Chairman.
10. All new members of JSC 1923, will receive either a club tie or club scarf and club pin badge once they have either set up a direct debit or paid their annual membership fee.
11. The five officers will have absolute discretion to determine the dates and proposed activities of all events, but must take into account all reasonable suggestions made by club members.
12. All five officer posts are completely voluntary and no payment or stipend will be made for their duties.
13. Any member of the club who is deemed by the five officers to have brought either the club, or the Old Penarthians RFC into disrepute will have their membership immediately suspended and allowed 7 days to submit in writing why they not have the membership cancelled and in such event no refund of membership paid will be due.
14. The contents, logo and other visual media created by JSC 1923 belongs to JSC 1923 and is protected by copyright.
15. The laws of the United Kingdom govern this agreement in the event of a dispute.
16. JSC 1923 informs all members that we are not responsible for any third-party websites that you link to. We are not responsible for whatever happens when a user chooses to follow a link, and we do not imply that we are endorsing any content on any third-party’s website.
17. All services provided by JSC 1923 to its members and any attending guests is done, so on the basis that the users decision to use the service or services is taken at their own risk.
18. A full list of members and their contact details will be securely stored and GDPR conditions complied with. Within one year of ceasing to be a member that members personal details will be removed from the JSC 1923 membership list.
