FAO Club Operations Managers – Torfaen, Neath Port Talbot and Vale of Glamorgan Areas

Ladies and Gents,

As a result of the Welsh Government decision to impose a local lockdown in the Torfaen, Neath Port Talbot and Vale of Glamorgan Areas, the WRU have decided that in line with this, all community rugby training in those areas will be suspended with immediate effect from 6pm on Monday 28 September 2020, until further notice. This means that there will be no sanctioned Club or Female Hub rugby training activity in those areas whilst these special measures are in place.

Whilst we acknowledge that schools and universities are remaining open, we do not want rugby to play a part in community transmission, and our priority here is player welfare and public health. Our clubs have been patient and resilient to date, and we know that you will want to play your part in helping the local communities get back to normal as quickly as possible.

We would also remind Clubs and Hubs that travel into and out of these areas is not permitted without good reason, and travelling to attend training would not be considered a valid reason. We will continue to review these measures on a regular basis and in line with the Welsh Government timelines.

In relation to the use of the rugby club for social purposes, this also needs to be managed in accordance with Welsh government guidance and with the required Covid-19 hygiene and Track and Trace protocols in place.

Please note, this change of guidelines relates to ALL community rugby. The professional game is exempt from these changes.
