Thank you Mr President

At a recent East District rugby dinner, Old Penarthians stalwart Roy Churchill was honoured for his services not only to the club but also to Welsh rugby.  Roy joined the club in 1956 serving as a player, captain, secretary and chairman.  Roy stood down from committee in 2011 but continues in his role as the club's Honorary President.  Roy provides a voice of reason and guidance to the club committee and remains a constant on the 1st Team touchline, come rain or shine, win lose or draw.

Roy has been synonymous with the Old Penarthians as well as the traditional Old Pens 7s tournament which remains Wales' longest running 7s event.  His services to the club and rugby in general over sixty years were recognised by current WRU Chairman Gareth Davies in presenting Roy with a much deserved award, Gareth remarked "it is people like Roy who make the game in Wales so special and the esteem in which he is held by his peers is testament to his contribution to Welsh rugby and the Old Penarthians."
